A train, under escort of a portion of Col. William A. Phillips' Indian regiment, was attacked by a considerable force of Confederates near Fort Gibson on the 28th. The enemy was repulsed, but not until after Phillips had lost 5 killed and several wounded. The Union report of the affair says 35 of the enemy were buried by the home guards.
