GILLARD, HARRISON: Private, Co. G. Address given at time of enlistment, Troy, OH. Age 18, occupation farmer. Buried at Hanktown Cemetary, Union Township, Miami County, OH. (Hanktown Cemetary is on St. RT. 571, about 1 mile East of Laura, OH.)

WHITE, SILAS: Private, Co. G. Address given at time of enlistment, West Milton, OH. Age 19, occupation farmer. Discharged due to disability August, 1864 in South Carolina. Buried at Hanktown Cemetary, Union Township, Miami County, OH.

NOTE: Hanktown is located between West Milton and Laura on the north side of route 571. This cemetary was officialy known as the Hanktown Negro Cemetary and was the final resting place for some of the Randolph slaves that came to this area circa 1845.

About 300 yards north of Hanktown was a burial site called Brown cemetary. As far as is known, four civil war veterans were buried at this site as a place of honor. Brown cemetary was recorded in the WPA inventory of cemetaries during the 30's. However, it is now considered as a "lost" cemetary, meaning no one is sure of its exact location.

In 1978 the stones of the four veterans were unearthed and moved to Hanktown by a gentleman named Kurtis King who was working on an Eagle Scout project.
